Extending over an area of twelve hectares with a difference in height of one hundred metres, the Gardens of Trauttmandsdorff Castle form a truly extraordinary natural amphitheatre. Immersed in Mediterranean vegetation

 

This scenic trail along Mount Benedetto (Küchelberg) is one of the most beautiful high-altitude promenades in Europe. The unique meeting of alpine and Mediterranean vegetation, combined with the spectacular view of Merano and the surroundings, makes every walk along the Tappeiner Trail special. The starting point is located opposite the entry to the Gilf Promenade in Via Passiria. From here, it leads to the church of Quarazze along a four- kilometre trail.

An 800-year-old shopping street

 

Formed by two rows of houses with arcades, they are divided into the so-called Water Arcades (river side) and Mountain Arcades (mountain side). Count Meinhard II had the arcades built in the 13th century. Since then, they have been constantly expanded and still represent the hub of the city's activity. With numerous shops, bars and restaurants, the Merano Arcades are the city’s main street.
