If you long for picturesque panoramic views, peaceful and unique hiking trails and evening events that combine South Tyrolean atmosphere with an international flair, then be sure to check out the following insider tips in and around Tirolo. After all, relaxation is not just about putting your feet up and unwinding, but also collecting new impressions for body, mind and soul.



Take a seat and float down to the spa town: The single-seater chairlift, just a few minutes’ walk from the Vinea, is the fastest and most panoramic way to descend to Merano.



Marble portals, a Gothic altar and the oldest stained glass in Tyrol: 12th century Tyrol Castle takes you on a fascinating journey through culture and time.



Stroll between alpine, Mediterranean and exotic plants and enjoy a marvellous panoramic view of Merano and the Burgraviato region: You can do it all as you walk along the beautiful path that is the Passeggiata Tappeiner.



The cable car takes you from Tirolo directly up to the 1,400 metre-high Alta Muta. You cannot only enjoy a panoramic view of the Merano region up there, but also a wonderful hiking paradise.



We also like to call it the ‘forgotten viewpoint’, as most visitors don’t know it and hike up to the Muta peak or the Masi della Muta instead.



The perfect destination for hot summer days. This hidden waterfall along the Sopranes stream can be reached on a leisurely one-and-a-half-hour hike.



One of our favourite promenades in Tirolo is the wine trail, which leads through the vineyards high above Merano and offers views of castles and peaks.



Nature has created special architectural formations near Tyrol Castle and in the Finele Valley. The earth pyramids are a must-see on every holiday in this region and can be discovered on a hike.



In Merano, the harvest festival has been celebrated in a special way since 1886: Immerse yourself in living traditions at the traditional grape festival and mingle with the celebrating locals.



Every summer, the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle invite world-famous musicians to transform the meadows around the water lily pond into a unique concert setting.



Have you ever attended a concert in a medieval knights’ hall? Tyrol Castle has been organising summer evenings filled with music from different eras for over 35 years.



Do you love orchestral music? Then you definitely shouldn’t miss the Südtirol Festival Merano (also known as the Merano Music Weeks) held in late summer in Merano and its environs.
